Hulepatil Aviation is expanding into the aerospace and defence sector with the planned induction of the Airbus Flexrotor, a tactical unmanned aerial system designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions. Airbus describes Flexrotor as a small tactical UAS built for ISTAR operations, with strong relevance for defence, government and critical surveillance applications.
This initiative marks an important step in strengthening India’s uncrewed aerial surveillance ecosystem. With its vertical take-off and landing capability, long-endurance mission profile, and ability to operate in remote and difficult terrain, the Flexrotor can support a wide range of government and strategic operations.
The Airbus Flexrotor can be deployed for real-time intelligence, border monitoring, reconnaissance, coastal surveillance, forward-area observation and mission-critical situational awareness for defence agencies.
For police departments, the system can assist in crowd monitoring, highway surveillance, anti-smuggling operations, emergency response, VIP movement monitoring and law-and-order management.
For the Forest Ministry, the Flexrotor can support animal tracking, anti-poaching missions, forest fire detection, wildlife corridor monitoring and surveillance of protected forest zones.
For the Revenue Ministry and mining authorities, the platform can help monitor illegal mining, track excavation activity, survey mining zones, inspect transport movement and support evidence-based enforcement.
The system can also assist during floods, landslides, forest fires, industrial accidents and search-and-rescue operations by providing aerial intelligence without risking human lives.
